VLN Teams completed a successful final test for the 24h Race

A team which has since years been successful in the rounds of the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring has left its mark on the Nürburgring 24h Qualification Race. Mike Rockenfeller, Nicolay Moeller Madsen and Dennis Busch of Phoenix-Racing took the victory at the 6h Race organised by the ADAC Nordrhein in their Audi R8 LMS. They crossed the finish line with an advance of 18.870 seconds ahead of Nico Müller and Frederic Vervisch in the Audi R8 LMS of the WRT-Team. The top three were completed by the Porsche 911 GT3 R of Falken Motorsports, with Jörg Bergmeister, Dirk Werner and Laurens Vanthoor behind the steering wheel.

“We had a really good weekend”, said Rockenfeller who was very happy after the finish. “Our target was to finish in the top ten of the Qualifying and we managed to gain eighth position. Then, we just wanted to complete and finish the race without problems so that each driver would gain as much experience as possible in racing at the Nordschleife. We managed that all and we all had great fun. Now we should be perfectly prepared for the 24h Race.”

A number of other VLN teams also provided strong performances behind the top three. Land-Motorsport (Audi R8 LMS), Black Falcon (Mercedes-AMG GT3) and ROWE Racing (BMW M6 GT3) finished in fourth to sixth places. Frikadelli-Racing and Manthey-Racing, too, made it into the top ten. The two Porsche teams scored ninth and tenth positions respectively with their 911 GT3 R in the field which comprised the total of 101 starters.
