At the second round of the season, the PXIUM Team Adrenalin Motorsport took a one-two win in class V5 for production cars. Daniel Zils, Norbert Fischer and Christian Konnerth took the chequered flag in their Porsche Cayman ahead of their team mates Christian Büllesbach, Andreas Schettler, Carsten Palluth and Carlos Arimón Solivellas. The team achieved another second place in class V4, also open for production cars.
“We are really happy with these fantastic results in the production car classes”, says team manager Matthias Unger. “A one-two win cannot be taken for granted, specifically considering the numbers of cars in the classes. In the BMW M235i Racing Cup, too, we have taken an important step forward compared to the opening round. I think that will also be reflected in the results at the next race.”
As in the previous season opener, Zils, Fischer and Konnerth once again achieved a hat-trick in class V5 with gaining pole position, winning the race and driving the fastest race lap. As a result, the driver trio moved up into third position of the VLN drivers’ classification and is now leading the overall classification for VLN production cars. “No doubt, this was a perfect weekend. You can really rely on our PIXUM Porsche Cayman. We did not have any problems and maintained control despite the many accidents on the track. Many thanks to the whole team for this brilliant job”, says Norbert Fischer.
After their start from pole position, he and his team mates lost their lead only for a short period in the first part of the race. “I approached a few accidents on the track and decided not to take any unnecessary risk”, informs start driver Zils who thus lost three positions. The Porsche Cayman, however, made it back into the lead of their class within the next three laps and Konnert, Fischer and Zils defended this place successfully until the race end.
Reason to celebrate had also their team mates Büllesbach, Schettler, Palluth and Solivellas. Having started from seventh grid position, they were constantly fighting their way up during the four-hour race with a faultless performance. The quartet finally crossed the finish line in second place of class V5 which was their first top-three result in the new season.
Back on the road to success are also Christopher Rink, Philipp Leisen and Danny Brink. In the qualifying already, the three drivers demonstrated with their pole position that they are absolutely competitive this year again. In the first part of the race, they had a close battle about the class lead with two of their competitors. “It would for sure have been a thrilling race”, explained Rink. “Unfortunately, we lost some time due to the overtaking manoeuvres, so the gap to the car in front, the later class winner, increased. And it was hence not possible for us to close this gap until the end of the race.” They nevertheless finally finished in a strong second place.
